Charlotte

  • The 172-room Hyatt Place Charlotte-Uptown (888.591.1234; www.hyatt.com) is on track to open by September 2012 prior to the Democratic National Convention.
  • Hotel Sierra (704.373.9700; www.hotelsierracharlottecentercity.hyatt.com) opened in March with indoor and outdoor meeting space.
  • Westin Charlotte (704.375.2600; www.westincharlottehotel.com) completed a hotel-wide renovation in August, including upgrades to guest rooms, meeting facilities and the lobby.

 

Raleigh

  • The Hilton Garden Inn Raleigh/Cary (919.339.1607; www.hilton.com) is on track to open this December with 125 guest rooms and meeting space.
  • The 133-room West Raleigh Hyatt Place (770.497.4570; www.hyatt.com) is expected to open in November.
  • Hampton Inn South Glenwood (252.321.8780; www.hamptoninn.com) is scheduled to open in summer 2012 with 126 guest rooms and meeting space.

 

Durham

  • The Durham Convention Center (919.956.9404; www.durhamconventioncenter.com) recently completed a $6.1 million renovation that included technology, aesthetic and accessibility enhancements.

 

Chapel Hill

  • The Courtyard by Marriott Chapel Hill (919.883.0700; www.courtyardchapelhill.com) recently completed a renovation that included upgrades to guest rooms and meeting space.
  • The Siena Hotel (800.223.7379; www.sienahotel.com) recently finished a renovation of its grand ballroom.

 

Fayetteville

  • The Embassy Suites Fayetteville/Fort Bragg (910.826.3600; www.embassysuites.com) is scheduled to open in spring 2012 with 165 suites and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

 

Atlantic Coast
Wilmington

  • The new riverfront Wilmington Convention Center (910.251.5101; www.businessmadecasual.com) opened in January with approximately 63,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 30,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 12,000-square-foot ballroom, eight breakout rooms and 15,000 square feet of prefunction space with river views.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington-University (910.395.8224; www.courtyard.com/ilmcy) completed a redesign of its lobby and a renovation of its guest rooms last spring.
