Florida Keys Resort Closes, Aims to Return as Marriott

Crystal Bay Resort owner Marvin Rappaport closed the 26-unit property on the bayside of U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 50 on Monday in the hopes of turning it into a 100-room Marriot Residence Inn.

Rappaport offered few details Friday and declined to discuss possible amenities, reasons for the closing, or a timetable for reconstruction, stating only that a franchise agreement for a Marriott Residence Inn had been signed.
