Greater Wilmington

  • Sheraton Suites Wilmington/New Castle (302.654.8300; www.starwoodhotels.com) is scheduled to open before the end of the year with more than 200 guest rooms and conference facilities.
  • Known for live thoroughbred horse racing from April through October, year-round simulcasting and 2,500 slot machines, Delaware Park (800.41.SLOTS; www.delpark.com) recently added table games, including roulette, blackjack and poker.
  • World Cafe Live at the Queen (302.994.1400; www.queen.worldcafelive.com) recently opened in the Queen Theatre, which was built in 1915 and recently restored. The venue is home to World Cafe Live, an extension of the Philadelphia-based performance venue/restaurant, as well as two separate private event spaces accommodating 120 people each.

Kent County

  • Air Mobility Command Museum (302.677.5938; www.amcmuseum.org) recently acquired the Air Force Two as part of its permanent outside ramp displays. Air Force Two is a VC-9 jet that served for 30 years transporting senior and distinguished leaders, including presidents, vice presidents and first ladies. Also new to the museum is the Air Force’s oldest operational air control tower, from which Dover air force base planes were directed from 1956 to 2009, that visitors can now climb into.

Southern Delaware

  • The Hampton Inn Rehoboth Beach (302.645.8003; www.hamptoninn.com) recently completed a renovation project that included enhancements to the Diamond State Room, which holds a maximum of 50 people theater style, and the boardroom, accommodating eight people.
  • Lewes-based Nassau Valley Vineyards (302.645.9463; www.nassauvalley.com) recently added a new 8,400-square-foot banquet hall to its portfolio of on-site event spaces.
  • Heritage Shores Club (302.337.9926; www.heritageshoresgolf.com), a golf facility in Bridgeville that hosts golf tournaments, recently opened with facilities for group events.
