Greater Springfield

  • After closing in 2008, the landmark Lord Jeffery Inn (413.256.8200; www.lordjefferyinn.com) in Amherst will reopen later this fall following a major restoration and expansion. The initiative included enhancements to all 49 rooms and public areas; a new restaurant, fitness center and 2,360-square-foot ballroom; and a renewed focus on environmental sustainability.
  • MassMutual Center (413.787.6610; www.massmutualcenter.com) plans to unveil a new Arts Program within the next year that will showcase the work of local artists.

The Berkshires

  • Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort (413.738.5500; www.jiminypeak.com) is redecorating all 105 suites in its Country Inn. The project is slated for completion by late summer 2012.
  • The historic, 96-room Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club (413.637.1364; www.cranwell.com) in Lenox added three newly converted and enhanced event spaces. Formerly home of the Cranwell Golf School, Meadow View encompasses 4,700 additional square feet of event space, the Rockwell Room can accommodate up to 40 people classroom style, and the Chesterwood Room has banquet space for 40 guests.
  • The Colonial Theatre (413.997.4444; www.thecolonialtheatre.org) in Pittsfield and Berkshire Theatre Festival (413.298.5576; www.berkshiretheatre.org) in Stockbridge are creating a new nonprofit organization that will connect the two entities and add a new dimension to the Berkshire theater arts heritage. The partnership will stage performances and festivals interchangeably throughout the year at the two historic theaters and BTF’s Unicorn Theatre.
