An 11-11-11 celebration will mark the completion of a $53 million expansion at Palace Casino in East Biloxi. After nearly two years of construction, the Palace has regained the resort feel it lost when Hurricane Katrina destroyed the casino barge and moved the games into the hotel lobby and meeting areas.
The first phases are already open. The 38,000-square-foot casino has more than 1,000 slot machines and 25 new table games. Four new restaurants and bars open to the casino floor: the Palace Buffet with cooking stations and crab legs on Saturday nights, the Palace Cafe & Bakery, the 24-hour Stacked Grill and the upscale Contact Lounge and Sports Bar with a stage for live performances.
Still being completed adjacent to the lobby are the valet, bell and concierge, the gift shop, bus lounge and VIP registration. There will also be a new spa and fitness center.
With all the physical changes, the most talked about is the new smoke-free policy at the Palace Casino. Smoking is prohibited at the resort except in the smoking lounge and on the balcony outside the sports bar.
