SAN DIEGO
In preparation for its upcoming 50th Anniversary in 2012, the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa has launched a new teambuilding program. And as an enticement to try the offerings, the 357-room property is taking $50 off, per person, for any of the programs booked by June 30, 2012. Offering more than 25,200 square feet of meeting space on the shores of Mission Bay, the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa’s new programs were all developed to create team synergies, improve communication skills, build company morale and promote creative competition – all in a high energy environment.
Among the new programs is one called MapQuest, involving teams creating slogans; inspecting puzzle maps and determining how to assemble the map; then assembling the map according to the team’s strategic action steps – ultimately encouraging each team to strategize and think collaboratively. With the Tiki Test exercise, teams are created and a Tiki Chief is designated along with a tribe name. Each team then paints their individual masks based on their brands and then the team develops a chant or dance that they perform in front of their peers. Other team building exercises include producing your own corporate commercial; designing and laying out a newspaper and determining your company’s headlines for the coming year; scavenger hunts and boat races that will take groups in and around the resort’s private beaches and marina; off-site excursions into the famed Old Town San Diego or Temecula’s wine country.
The resort has created an array of varied programs that can be strategically tailored to meet each group’s needs, according to Michael Swyney, director of sales and marketing. “Our team building exercises are anything but typical or ‘on the shelf’ events,” says Swyney. “It’s all about giving our clients an experience of value.”
