  • A comprehensive history of Los Angeles art from 1945-1980 art is on display as part of Pacific Standard Time, a six-month initiative spearheaded by the Getty Foundation, that began in October and has united premiere Southern California art institutions to examine their shared history. More than 70 galleries are participating and over 125 related exhibitions featuring 1,300 artists will be displayed during the program’s run, exploring movements and cultural themes through a variety of media. A 10-day Performance and Public Art Festival begins Jan. 19 and will include reinterpretations of historic pieces and performnace reenactments.   • Completed in summer 2011, the Sheraton Seattle Garden Walk project, commissioned by the hotel, will give pedestrians a safe and eco-friendly path to travel on to and from the Washington Convention Center and along the 7th Avenue corridor downtown. Climbing vines, evergreen shrubs and perennial flowers will grow and bring color to the cityscape. A glass canopy protects passerby from the Seattle rain, and environmental benefits of the Garden Walk include open tree planters to collect rainwater and decrease storm runoff..
