Montgomery County offers groups an exciting array of venues for meetings and events that will round out a business program and wow attendees.
Downtown Silver Spring’s prime cultural venues are The Fillmore and the American Film Institute (AFI) Silver Theatre and Cultural Center (www.afi.com/silver/new), whose centerpiece is the historic 1938 Silver Theatre. The AFI has three theaters available for rental, with seating for 400, 200 and 75, respectively. The AFI offers exceptional technical facilities, including high-definition digital cinema video projection, broadcast-quality video recording and distance learning capabilities via satellite. Surrounding the AFI are over 200 restaurants, cafes and markets that offer a variety of cuisines.
Glenview Mansion (www.rockvillemd.gov/glenview) in Rockville is a neo-classical 19th century home located in the 153-acre Rockville Civic Center Park. The mansion is appropriate for business meetings, conferences and networking events.
Near Metro’s Red Line in North Bethesda there’s the Mansion at Strathmore (www.strathmore.org), which is adjacent to the stunning Music Center at Strathmore with its roster of live concert, theater and other cultural events, and seating for nearly 2,000 patrons. The Georgian-style mansion with its marble and oak interior and gardens is a perfect choice for private standup events for up to 200 guests.
The Kirkland Center (www.kpcenter.org) is a newly constructed venue near the Capital Beltway that is situated on 45 open and tranquil acres. The property offers conference, lodging and catering needs, and serves as a training center for the National Labor College.
Another venue with a parkland setting is Bretton Woods (www.bwrc.org), which has 285 acres of scenic views, an 18-hole golf course overlooking the Potomac River and a clubhouse ambience.
Discovery Sports Center (www.mdsoccerplex.org) in the northern part of the county has a 66,000-square-foot facility that is used for conferences, trade shows and other events.
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (mncppc.org) manages several facilities that provide spaces for retreats, meetings and conferences. The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek has a rustic setting in the woods and features oak floors, a flagstone fireplace and parkland views. In Potomac, the Rockwood Manor has several meeting rooms that accommodate up to 100 people. And the award-winning Brookside Gardens on 50 acres has a choice of venues that includes classrooms ideal for small meetings and training sessions, and a reception hall for up to 175 people.
