Milwaukee

  • Hilton Milwaukee (414.271.7250; www.hiltonmilwaukee.com) completed a multimillion-dollar, multiphase renovation project in June that encompassed upgrades to guest rooms, the lobby area, public spaces, the fitness center and other areas of the property. The convention headquarters hotel has more than 34,000 square feet of meeting space, including four ballrooms and 18 meeting rooms of various sizes.
  • A 200-room, $50 million Marriott (www.marriott.com) planned for Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee held its groundbreaking in November. The property, expected to open in March 2013, will have meeting and banquet space, a restaurant and bar, and a full range of hotel services and amenities.
  • A groundbreaking ceremony was held in October for the Brewhouse Inn and Suites (608.835.3900; www.gormanusa.com). The 132,000-square-foot redevelopment will be an adaptive reuse of two existing historic buildings, previously part of the Pabst Brewery, into an extended-stay, 90-room hotel and pub-style restaurant. Six suites will feature themes from famous beer icons and local brands from the Milwaukee area, three suites will feature a balcony overlooking downtown Milwaukee, and amenities will include a fitness center, a business center, conference rooms, wireless Internet, an outdoor patio with gas grills and seating, a restaurant and an outdoor beer garden.

Brookfield

  • The 149-room Country Inn & Suites Milwaukee West-Brookfield (262.782.1400; www.countryinns.com/brookfieldwi) is undergoing a complete renovation that’s scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

Waukesha and Pewaukee

  • The Radisson Pewaukee Hotel changed flags to the Holiday Inn Pewaukee-Milwaukee West (262.506.6300; www.holidayinn.com) and is investing about $400,000 to install 37-inch flat-screen televisions with 100 HD channels into guest rooms, as well as add new fitness equipment, increase Internet bandwidth and replace all soft goods, including draperies, towels and bedspreads.
