  • The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa (866.500.8313) completed a $6.5 million renovation last year, introducing warm Hawaiian colors, textiles, prints and artwork to the 508-room resort. The resort also installed wireless Internet throughout the guest rooms.
  • The Makena Beach & Golf Resort (808.874.111) recently finalized a multimillion-dollar makeover touching on all areas of the 1,800-acre property. The project included enhancements to all 308 guest rooms and suites, including the addition of 37-inch flat-screen TVs, cherry wood furnishings and contemporary artwork. Other improvements included new landscaping and the renovation of the property’s esteemed golf course.
  • An Andaz hotel is slated to open in Wailea in 2013. The Andaz Wailea Resort and Residences (877.875.5036) will include 290 guest rooms, plus 19 villas with two to five bedrooms each. The property will be located on Mokapu Beach, about 15 miles south of Kahului Airport.
  • The former Kincha restaurant at the Grand Wailea Resort (800.232.4604) is undergoing a $2 million renovation and will relaunch as Alan Wong’s Amasia. It will be the third restaurant for Chef Wong in the Hawaiian Islands. The restaurant will offer global cuisine and a small-plate concept, including dishes from Peru, Singapore, Spain and many other countries. Amasia will also feature a sushi bar.
