- The Oregon Convention Center (503.235.7575; www.oregoncc.org) unveiled a 30,000-square-foot, landscaped outdoor space across the street from its main lobby. The area can be used for receptions and booth set-ups.
- Portland Streetcar (503.823.7575; www.portlandstreetcar.org) will complete an extension running along the city’s eastside in September. The new line will add 28 stops to the public transportation system, including at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
- The Crystal Hotel (503.972.2670; www.mcmenamins.com/crystalhotel) opened in downtown Portland. The 51-room hotel, the first downtown lodging venture by the McMenamin brothers, who offer an array of brew pubs, hotels and venues in the area, is located in a 1911 building and features a subterranean saltwater soaking pool and priority seating at the nearby Crystal Ballroom music venue.
- The Grove Hotel in Portland’s OldTown/Chinatown is being redeveloped into a youth-oriented property by a development team that includes the founder of the city’s hip Ace Hotel (503.228.2277; www.acehotel.com). Work on the 158-room property, which will include a restaurant, bar and lobby gathering space, is expected to be completed later this year.
Mount Hood
- The iconic Timberline Lodge (503.272.3251; www.timberlinelodge.com) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year with a series of special events and packages. The historic resort located on the slopes of Mount Hood offers four meeting rooms, ranging from 1,100 square feet to 2,400 square feet.
