Cleveland
- The Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center (216.920.1430; www.clevelandmedicalmart.com), slated to open this summer, will combine permanent medical showrooms, an exhibition hall and state-of-the-art conference facilities tailored to the needs of both the medical and mainstream convention marketplace. The $465 million facility, which is pursuing LEED silver certification, will also feature a 30,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom.
- The first phase of the Cleveland Horseshoe Casino (800.223.7277; www.horseshoe.com) will open this summer in the historic Higbee Building on Public Square. Development of the property includes the purchase of the 205-room Ritz-Carlton Cleveland (216.623.1300; www.ritzcarlton.com/cleveland) and a parking garage.
- The 150-room Courtyard by Marriott in University Circle (800.831.4004; www.marriott.com/courtyard) will open this fall. The facility will include a pool, restaurant and meeting space.
- The Aloft Hotel Cleveland Downtown (877.462.5638; www.starwoodhotels.com) is slated to open in 2013 with 150 rooms and 3,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art (216.421.8671; www.mocacleveland.org) will open in its new $26.3 million home this fall at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Mayfield Road. The four-story, 34,000-square-foot facility will offer venue space for groups.
Cincinnati
- The 21c Museum and Hotel (877.217.6400; www.21cmuseumhotel.com) will open in early winter with 160 guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar and 8,000 square feet of event space.
- Caesar’s Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati (800.223.7277; www.horseshoe.com) will open in spring 2013 with a 100,000-square-foot gaming floor, a 31-table World Series of Poker room and three restaurants. It will be located on the northeast side of downtown, just blocks from downtown hotels and the Duke Energy Convention Center.
- An 18-acre mixed-use development called The Banks (519.369.1313; www.thebankscincy.com) is winding up phase one this year with the spring opening of Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, Mahogany’s Cafe and Grill, Tin Roof and the Wine Guys Bistro. The $600 million project created 90,000 square feet of retail space, and phase two, set to break ground this year, will double that amount.
Dayton
- The Crowne Plaza Hotel Dayton (937.224.0800; www.crowneplaza.com) recently finished a $9 million renovation. The facility offers 291 guest rooms and 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
Columbus
- The 532-room Hilton Columbus Downtown (614.384.8600; www.hilton.com) will open this September. Located across the street from the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the full-service hotel includes 30,650 square feet of meeting space.
- The Hollywood Casino Columbus (610.373.2400; www.hollywoodcasinocolumbus.com) will open in late 2012. Currently under construction, the facility will offer live poker, up to 3,000 slot machines and 70 table games. Amenities will include a food court, two restaurants, two lounges and a sports bar.
