EAU CLAIRE, Wis.
An Eau Claire hotel and convention center has an uncertain future. It's facing foreclosure.
The owners of the Ramada Convention Center Eau Claire are being sued by a firm that loaned them money to buy the facility back in 2004.
Dougherty Funding claims SB Hotel Management owes more than $1.4 million dollars on its loan. The lender also claims the hotel owes other creditors more than $200,000 including tens of thousands in unpaid unemployment compensation taxes to the state.
Dougherty Funding is asking a judge to appoint a receiver to run the hotel. The lender says the facility is on the verge of losing its franchise agreement with Ramada, in part because it has failed it's last four quality assurance inspections. The lender is also asking a judge to order a sheriff's sale of the facility.
The 122-room property features 24,000 square feet of meeting space.
