  • Chicago Marriott Naperville opened in April in the Windy City’s western suburbs. The hotel has 424 guest rooms, 25,000 square feet of meeting space and a 7,000-square-foot ballroom accomodating up to 800 guests. The $30 million renovation modernized the lobby and upgraded wired and wireless Internet to all guest rooms. The hotel will also be home to more than 40,000 Northern Italian bees that will pollinate gardens and provide honey to be used in food service.   • Joie de Vivre opened Hotel Lincoln on Chicago’s North Side.   • Renovations began at Peoria’s historic Hotel Pere Marquette under a new developer. The project is part of a $98.2 million downtown development program, which also includes the $14.2 million construction of a Marriott Courtyard.   • The Iowa Events Center (IEC) underwent a $42 million expansion, unveiling the renovated Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. The convention center added 21 meeting rooms and more than 33,000 square feet of event space, bringing the IEC’s total to 226,000 square feet and 32 rooms. New LED lighting and audiovisual tools were added to the meeting space. The project followed green renovation practices, recycling 99 percent of waste and diverting 8,500 tons from the landfill.
