Flying High and Staying Dry

More Coverage

Though the Dells is famous for waterparks, groups shouldn’t forget to think outside the splash zone for adrenaline-pumping team-building activities.

According to Tifani Jones, director of sales for the Wisconsin Dells CVB, high-flying activities continue to be among the most popular with visiting groups.

“Zip lines are huge,” she says “And we often see ropes courses utilized in a corporate environment.”

Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort (www.wildernessresort.com) recently unveiled the Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course, an adventure course featuring 42 challenges perched 30 feet above the property’s Wild West mega-arcade.

Adventure outfitter Vertical Illusions (www.verticalillusions.com) opened a new eco zip line canopy tour through Chimney Rock Park. The 15-tree adventure begins atop the highest freestanding rock in the Midwest and soars through the tree canopy 500 feet above the park’s canyons. Vertical Illusions also offers kayaking and outdoor rock climbing excursions, ranging in intensity from easy beginner tours to scaling a 40-foot frozen waterfall in the middle of winter.

Groups can charter pontoon boats for company outings and rent jet skis through Lake Delton Water Sports (www.dellswatersports.com). Surrounded by hiking trails and picnic areas, Mirror Lake is a great place for a paddle.

BigFoot Zipline Tours (www.bigfootzip.com) and the Wilderness Canyon Zipline Canopy (www.wildernessresort.com) are other high-soaring options that allow attendees to build trust while overcoming their fears.

Short track stock car racing venue Dells Raceway Park (www.dellsracewaypark.com) offers group pricing for parties and special events, and accommodates groups of more than 20 people.
