Atlantic City
- The $2.4 billion, 1,898-room Atlantic City Revel (855.348.0500; www.revelresorts.com) opened in April overlooking the Boardwalk, and followed with a grand opening during Memorial Day weekend. The property features 14 restaurants, a 31,000-square-foot spa, 55,000 square feet of retail shops, 10 pools, 160,000 square feet of indoor event space, 90,000 square feet of outdoor event space and 130,000 square feet of casino floor space.
- Following a $150 million renovation, the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino Atlantic City (800.777.8477; www.goldennugget.com), formerly the Trump Marina, held its grand opening weekend in late April. The project included the addition of several new signature restaurant concepts, a $6 million salon and spa, new lounges and clubs, and a renovated showroom.
- The former Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort became the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel (609.347.7111; www.atlanticclubcasino.com) early this year. Owned by Colony Capital LLC, the property has 37,000 square feet of event space.
- Caesars Atlantic City (609.348.4411; www.caesarsac.com) recently renovated several guest rooms in its Ocean and Centurion towers. The property also opened Suite 7400, a rooftop club that overlooks the ocean, as well as the Atlantic Grill and Cafe Taza.
- Tropicana Casino and Resort (609.340.4000; www.tropicana.net) will undergo a $25 million renovation after Labor Day, slated for completion by the end of the year. The project will include the renovation of 437 guest rooms in the North Tower, a new Italian restaurant, an expanded nightclub and 150 new slot machines.
- Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (609.317.1000; www.theborgata.com) plans to finish a $50 million guest room renovation this summer. The project includes enhancements to 1,566 of its 2,000 hotel rooms and corridors. The property has 70,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
- Resorts Casino Hotel (609.344.6000; www.resortsac.com) recently completed renovations that included rebranding to a “roaring ’20s” theme and enhancements to 480 guest rooms in the Ocean Tower, as well as the 13,000-square-foot ballroom, other meeting rooms and the casino.
Cape May
- The 20,000-square-foot, $10 million Cape May Convention Hall (609.884.9536; www.capemaycity.org) opened in May next to the Cape May boardwalk and promenade. The multipurpose facility can host up to 600 people for banquets and more than 900 for performing arts events.
Newark
- The 150-room Courtyard Newark Downtown (201.841.9420; www.marriott.com) will open in September next to the Prudential Center, home to the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. The property will feature 3,000 square feet of conference space.
- After completing a multimillion-dollar renovation in April, the 192-room Crown Plaza Clark, with more than 8,000 square feet of event space, was reflagged the Holiday Inn Clark-Newark (732.574.0100; www.holidayinn.com). Renovations included the redesign of the building’s exterior, lobby, technology, meeting spaces and guest rooms, and the brand’s new “Hub Cafe” concept.
