Baltimore
- The Baltimore Convention Center (410.649.7000; www.bccenter.org) recently added a boardroom and underwent an energy conservation project estimated to reduce annual energy costs by 20 percent, among other upgrades.
- Baltimore’s InterContinental Harbor Court Hotel recently changed flags and is now the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore (410.234.0550; www.sonesta.com). The property has more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Annapolis
- Holiday Inn Express Baltimore-BWI Airport West (410.684.3388; www.hiexpress.com) completed a major renovation this spring. Among the upgrades of the $3 million project are new carpeting, decor and furniture in guest rooms, and updates to the outdoor pool, public bathrooms and lobby.
- Hampton Inn and Suites Annapolis (410.571.0200; www.annapolissuites.hamptoninn.com) introduced its newly renovated “Perfect Mix Lobby” in May. The specially designed contemporary lobby features a 55-inch, flat-screen TV and a newly designed breakfast area. The property also has a new fitness center and a new business center.
- The addition of West Kitchen & Tavern in mid-June is part of a multimillion-dollar refurbishment at Loews Annapolis Hotel (410.263.7777; www.loewsannapolis.com). The project also included a contemporary upgrade to the lobby.
Prince George’s County
- RiverView Terrace at Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center (301.965.2300; www.gaylordnational.com/riverviewterrace) is now open. The 15,000-square-foot outdoor, waterfront venue can accommodate up to 700 guests for a seated dinner or 1,200 guests for a reception. The site features dramatic views of the sunset and Washington, D.C.’s monuments in the distance.
Montgomery County
- Doubletree by Hilton (301.589.5200; www.hilton.com) in downtown Silver Spring (formerly Hilton Washington, D.C./Silver Spring) recently completed extensive renovations to its lobby and guest rooms. The hotel offers 248 guest rooms and suites and 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Fillmore (301.960.9999; www.fillmoresilverspring.com) in downtown Silver Spring is a new concert hall that provides live musical entertainment. The 23,000-square-foot venue offers the latest audio, lighting and video technology, as well as fiber optic connectivity to the American Film Institute’s Silver Theatre across the street.
