What are three of the most unique ways to experience Denver’s cultural riches?
- Via Bicycle: Whether you rent a bike or use Denver B-cycle (Denver is the first city in the nation to implement a citywide bike-sharing program), one of the best ways to experience the 300 days of sunshine is to ride through them. There are 850 miles of bike paths that connect cyclists to farmers markets, cute neighborhoods with delicious ice cream and really cool boutiques. You can also ride to the different museums and city parks. There are even large bike groups and clubs that get together weekly for some fun socializing and bar-hopping.
- Via Taste Buds: Denver is part of the “Napa Valley of Beer,” and you can really get a flavor for the city through the many microbreweries and tasting rooms, and by chatting with the people who work in the tasting rooms. Be sure to check out Great Divide Brewing, Wynkoop Brewing Company, Breckenridge Brewery and Denver Beer Co. Ale houses and breweries continue to open, so there are always new spots to check out. If you’re just visiting, consider taking a walking beer tour, or jump on the pedal tavern, a 16-passenger bike that will guide a small group to hot spots around the area.
- Via Foot: One of my favorite things to do in the city is to take part in First Friday art walks. Several artsy neighborhoods transform into festive street parties as droves of people turn up to explore local galleries and studio spaces until late in the evening on the first Friday of each month. I especially love seeing artists at work and their personal studios where they actually create the pieces.
