  • The Marcus Corporation announced the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation to 240 guest rooms and public spaces at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace (608.255.5100; www.hiltonmadison.com). The guest room renovations include a modern layout, new carpeting, mahogany room furnishings and a media hub on every desk. In addition, eight standard guest rooms have been converted into Jr. Deluxe Lakeview Suites, complete with privacy walls between the seating and sleeping areas.

  • Frontier Airlines (800.432.1359; www.frontierairlines.com) expanded service began June 3 with new routes from Madison. With the additions, there is now year-round, nonstop service between Madison and Orlando, and daily nonstop service between Madison and Washington, D.C. Frontier Airlines plans to upgrade aircraft carriers from 99-seat Embraer 190s to 138-seat Airbus 319s.

  • The Wisconsin construction industry awarded Union South (608.890.3000; www.union.wisc.edu/visit-unionsouth.htm), the latest student center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with the title “Best in Show” at their annual awards ceremony. Union South was acknowledged for its elegant design, student involvement and multipurpose, unique spaces. The 276,664-square-foot building features four self-operated restaurants, a movie theater, coffeehouse and wine bar, ice cream shop, art gallery, retail space and recreational venues, including bowling and a climbing wall. Planners can utilize the 1,200-square-foot Varsity Hall, a 60-room eco-boutique hotel and a host of other event spaces for group gatherings.
