Long Beach

  • A recently approved multimillion-dollar project to create a loft-style ballroom in the Long Beach Arena, which is a prominent facility at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center (562.436.3636; www.longbeachcc.com), is scheduled for completion in February 2013. The project will produce 45,000 square feet of event space that will provide a unique environment for dinners and concerts for up to 5,500 people, doubling current capacity. Earlier this year, the convention center completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, including enhanced lobbies, meeting rooms and hallway areas.

  • Long Beach Airport (562.570.2619; www.lgb.org) plans to finish a $140 million renovation in December. The upgrades include new passenger lounges with upgraded amenities, upgraded concessions and updated gates, and a concourse with an atrium, garden and environmentally sustainable solar panels that will provide 13 percent of the concourse’s energy needs.

SOUTH BAY
Redondo Beach

  • Redondo Beach’s largest hotel, the Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach and Marina (310.318.8888; www.cpredondobeachhotel.com), will receive a complete renovation starting this month. The project will include enhancements to guest rooms, hallways, meeting space, the lobby and the restaurant. The renovation is slated for completion by February 2013.

  • The Redondo Beach Waterfront (310.318.0631; www.redondobeachwaterfront.org) began a three-phase revitalization project last year that will be ongoing for approximately five years.

     
  • The vintage buildings and surrounding public areas of the Redondo Pier (310.540.3700; www.redondopier.com) began a renewal program in late 2011. All of the shops and restaurants have remained open during the renewal, which is scheduled for completion this month.

WESTSIDE
Beverly Hills

  • Beverly Hills Visitor Center (310.248.1015; www.lovebeverlyhills.com) is set to open in September.

  • The extended-stay AKA Beverly Hills (310.385.1924; www.stayaka.com) is scheduled to open this fall with 88 one- and two-bedroom furnished residences, bi-level townhomes and penthouse suites designed for stays of one month or longer.

Santa Monica

  • The Sheraton Delfina Santa Monica (310.399.9344; www.sheratondelfina.com) completed a renovation in June. The project included overhauls of the property’s 310 guest rooms, penthouse ballroom, lobby lounge and public spaces. 

  • The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (310.458.8551; www.santamonicacivic.org) plans to complete a renovation in March 2015.

  • The Santa Monica Museum of Flying (310.398.2500; www.museumofflying.com), which can accommodate 250 people for a reception and also has a 40-person boardroom and a 40-seat screening theater, opened in February.
