Planner Pick: Houston

Talk about going the extra mile. When the Washington, D.C.-based American Association of Museums (AAM) brought 4,500 delegates to Houston last year for its annual Meeting and MuseumExpo (the world’s largest gathering of museum professionals), the Greater Houston CVB arranged to move the famed annual Art Car Parade—an event typically drawing 250,000 spectators—to coincide with AAM’s show opening.

“We cannot say enough about how supportive the Houston team was,” says Dean Phelus, AAM’s director of meetings and professional development at the time. “From the members of Houston’s Museum District to the convention center staff, the spirit of cooperation was amazing.”
