Representing the nation’s largest organization of CVB and COC professionals, the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB), founded in 1972 and celebrating its 40th anniversary this summer, held its Eighth Annual Mid-Winter Education Conference in Laredo this January.

“Based at the La Posada Hotel, this was our first meeting in Laredo,” says Bridgette Snyder, executive director of the Port Aransas, Texas-based body, with planning among her responsibilities.

The TACVB decided on Laredo after “an amazing” inspection of the city and “its treasure trove of history,” which included coming away with an assured sense of security, according to Snyder.

“Given the current border issues, our board wanted to demonstrate that a culturally rich, secure and affordable meeting could be held in Laredo,” she says. “Our experience there met those expectations in every way.”
