Charleston Area

  • Marriott International opened the Residence Inn Charleston North (843.300.3636; www.marriott.com) in May. The property has 96 suites and one 500-square-foot meeting room.

  • A $100 million Medal of Honor Museum is being planned for the Charleston Harbor by the Patriots Point Development Authority (866.831.1720; www.patriotpoints.org). The museum will eventually be supported by a multimillion-dollar hospitality and consumer component that will feature a world-class destination hotel with a conference center. A timeline has not been announced.

Hilton Head

  • The Sea Pines Resort’s Inn at Harbour Town (866.561.8802; www.seapines.com) completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that included a rejuvenation of the lobby, new landscaping and new lighting.

  • Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island (843.842.2400; www.sonesta.com) opened earlier this year at the island’s south end with 20,000 square feet of function space that includes the 10,000-square-foot Crystal Ballroom, the outdoor, 7,000-square-foot Oceanfront Pavilion, four meeting rooms and a boardroom.

  • Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa (843.681.4000; www.starwoodhotels.com) plans to finish a $30 million renovation by March 2013. The project will include improvements to guest rooms, the main lobby, public and meeting spaces, restaurants and bars.

Myrtle Beach

  • Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation (877.360.0799; www.kingstonresorts.com) completed renovations to the lobby, restaurants and common areas of the hotel. The multimillion-dollar project, completed in April, follows recent renovations to the hotel’s 255 guest rooms and the resort’s Sport & Health Club. The hotel’s food and beverage outlets have also been modernized, while an elegant new oceanfront restaurant, Vintage Twelve, also debuted.

  • The Grande Shores Oceanfront Resort (843.692.4000; www.grandeshores.com) finished a renovation of its hotel rooms and common areas in February. Improvements include updated oceanfront pool decks, resurfacing of the Lazy River, a new covered walkway at the main entrance, and new furniture in the lobby.

  • Springmaid Beach Resort (866.764.8501; www.springmaidbeach.com) recently completed a $6 million renovation. The project included enhancements to guest rooms, the oceanfront conference center and landscaping.

  • The Marina Inn at Grand Dunes (866.437.4113; www.marinainnatgrandedunes.com) is extending its special Fall Weekday Meetings Value Dates offer through Oct. 31, with rates starting at $109.

Inland South Carolina

Columbia

  • Columbia Marriott Downtown (803.771.7000; www.marriott.com) is slated to begin renovations to guest rooms, lobby and meeting spaces this winter.

Greenville

  • Hilton Greenville (864.232.4747; www.hilton.com) recently completed a major renovation.

  • Hyatt Regency Greenville (864.235.1234; www.hyatt.com) is undergoing renovations and expanding its meeting space.
