Getting there: Bogota is just over six hours nonstop by air from New York City, just under five hours from Atlanta, about three hours from Miami and three-and-a-half hours from Houston. Connections are also available via major international hubs, including Mexico City and Panama City.

Major airport: Eldorado International Airport is one of Latin America’s busiest airports and the largest in Colombia. It serves as a hub for several carriers, including Avianca, Copa Airlines Colombia and LAN Colombia. The airport is about nine miles from the city center and just a few minutes from Salitre, an area featuring several hotels with meeting space.
