South Bend/Mishawaka

  • Notre Dame University's The Morris Inn (574.631.2000; www.morrisinn.nd.edu) is undergoing an extensive expansion and renovation that is set for completion in August 2013. The inn is closed during the project. When it reopens, there will be 138 enlarged guest rooms, an upgraded lobby, restaurant and pub, and a new 300-seat ballroom. The facility will seek LEED Silver certification.
  • The 298-room South Bend Marriott was renovated and reflagged as DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend (574.234.2000; www.hilton.com). All guest rooms, public areas and nine meeting rooms will be refreshed when the improvements are completed. The hotel is directly connected to the Century Center.

Upper Northwest

  • Beginning this fall, Hilton Garden Inn Merrillville (219.769.7100; www.hilton.com) will undergo an extensive renovation of its public space and guest rooms, as well as install new carpet in its 3,500 square feet of event space.

Fort Wayne/Allen County

  • The $7 million Sport One Parkview Fieldhouse (www.rcidevelops.com) is slated to open in late 2012. The 57,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fieldhouse will be available to host national and regional volleyball and basketball tournaments year-round.
  • Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center (260.420.1100; www.hilton.com) recently completed extensive renovations. The hotel, which is attached to the Grand Wayne Convention Center, offers 246 guest rooms and 48,600 square feet of event space.

Kosciusko County

  • Oakwood Inn & Conference Center (www.koscvb.org) in Syracuse was sold and is scheduled to reopen in 2013. Located on Lake Wawasee, the property consists of the 78-room inn and 30,000 square feet of conference space.
  • Ramada Plaza Hotel in Warsaw was reflagged to Wyndham Garden Warsaw (574.269.2323; www.wyndhamwarsaw.com). There are 157 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

West Lafayette/Lafayette

  • Following a renovation and name change, University Plaza Hotel is now Four Points by Sheraton West Lafayette (765.463.5511; www.starwoodhotels.com). Located one mile from Purdue University campus, the property offers 149 guest rooms, 22 suites and 11,500 square feet of meeting space.
