The Westin Hotel Riverfront (800.937.8461 800 number; www.starwoodhotels.com) is expected to open by early 2014. The hotel is being constructed on property adjacent to the Chase Center, the city’s largest multipurpose event facility, with 87,000 square feet of meeting space. The property will have 180 rooms and about 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware (302.737.0900; www.udel.edu/hotel) recently finalized a lobby makeover. New additions include The Bistro restaurant and The Market, a 24/7 sundries shop. The lobby also provides free Wi-Fi and computer terminals.
The former Inn at Christiana/Hampton Inn Wilmington-Newark was reflagged as the Comfort Inn & Suites Newark (302.737.3900; www.comfortinn.com). The property’s exterior and interior have been totally reworked, and bedding and furnishings have also been refreshed.
The Holiday Inn Select in Claymont was reflagged as the Crowne Plaza Wilmington North (302.792.2700; www.crowneplaza.com). Major upgrades have improved the meeting rooms, public spaces and 189 guest rooms.
The Sheraton Wilmington South (302.328.6200; www.sheratonwilmingtonsouth.com) opened in December 2011 with 192 guest rooms and more than 9,000 square feet of function space.
