With more than 30,000 hotel rooms in the Charlotte area, including 4,100 within walking distance of the Charlotte Convention Center, the city and its environs were comfortably equipped for the DNC's 35,000 attendees. Following are three of the approximately 150 properties used during the event.

Now that it can be told, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama stayed at the elegant Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge (704.248.4000; www.theballantynehotel.com) in south Charlotte's scenic Ballantyne neighborhood.
