Greensboro

  • The Club 5th Season (336.292.9161; www.sheratongreensboro.com) bar and restaurant at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons is currently closed for renovations. Located near the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center, the property offers more than 1,000 guest rooms and 250,000 square feet of meeting space.
  • The 109-room Hampton Inn & Suites Greensboro Coliseum (336.553.1818; www.hamptoninn.com) opened in September along the High Point Road corridor, offering banquet space for 55 guests.

High Point

  • The former Best Western was purchased by Inner Circle Hotels and converted to the High Point Plaza Hotel & Convention Center (336.889.8888; www.highpointplaza.com). The property opened 30 years ago under the Radisson flag and is now the city's largest hotel, offering 252 guest rooms and 12,500 square feet of event space accommodating groups of up to 600.

  • The 89-room Courtyard by Marriott (336.882.3600; www.marriott.com) added a new bistro dining option. The hotel offers a 650-square-foot meeting room and exhibition space on-site.

  • The Doll & Miniature Museum of High Point closed permanently in September, citing financial struggles. Owners were forced to find placements for the collection of thousands of dolls, dollhouses and assorted miniatures.

Winston-Salem

  • The Village Inn Events Center (336.766.9121; www.thevillageinn.com) underwent a soft goods overhaul and updated its meeting space. Located in Clemmons, just outside the Winston-Salem city limits, the all-in-one hotel and conference facility features the large Crystal Ballroom, plus nine banquet rooms and 141 guest rooms, accommodating groups of up to 1,000 people.
