In November, Caesars Entertainment received approval from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority for $45 million in financing for its planned 200,000-square-foot convention center at Harrah’s Atlantic City (609.441.5000; www.harrahsresort.com). The center will have 100,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.

Steel Pier, one of the Boardwalk’s most storied landmarks, will become a year-round attraction as part of a $100 million, three-phase makeover. New amusement rides, a food court and arcade area were completed in June. The second phase will include a new museum, retail entertainment space and 250-foot-high Ferris wheel. The third phase calls for a multipurpose, event-capable ballroom with 2,000 seats and a stage. Renovations are slated for completion by 2015.

A new partnership between Jimmy Buffett and Resorts Casino Hotel (609.340.6000; www.resortsac.com) to create a Margaritaville-themed restaurant, bar and surf shop with indoor and outdoor seating has been finalized. Construction of the $35 million complex is scheduled for completion this spring.

In July, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (609.317.1000; www.theborgata.com) refreshed its 1,566 classic guest rooms and corridors with a $50 million room redesign project.

Tropicana Casino and Resort (609.340.4000; www.tropicana.net) will begin renovations to its guest rooms, restaurants and casino this fall, with plans to finish the project by the end of the year.

Opened in April, the former Trump Marina Hotel Casino was transformed into Golden Nugget Atlantic City (609.441.2000; www.goldennugget.com/atlanticcity) by new owners Landry’s Inc., through a $150 million renovation.
