What service can you provide to groups that they normally might not receive?
We provide complimentary access to kayaks, paddle boards, and paddle boats from Wingra Boats (6 blocks away) for all of our guests and groups. It is an excellent break-out or team building idea.
What are your bar or nightclub recommendations?
I recommend Merchant for their excellent cocktail list. I also love the Corral Room, which is a small space under the famous Tornado Room steak house. The Corral Room is only open Friday and Saturday nights after 9pm. They have an excellent late night menu.
Can you recommend a good place to take a stroll?
The UW Arboretum is a must. I also love walking down Madison’s two great neighborhood shopping streets – Monroe St. and Williamson St. (Willy).
Are there any quirky places we should check out?
I’m a big breakfast guy so I love to head to Lazy Jane’s small bakery next to their restaurant on Willy St. It’s only open Saturday and Sunday mornings and you best get their early. The morning buns and scones are amazing. The most unique shop in Madison is Bernie’s Rock Shop on Johnson St. It is a Madison institution. I also love the Banzo food cart. It is the best of the ever growing line up of great food carts in Madison.
What is an unusual request from a group you’ve had?
A group wanted to rent our unfinished roof for an event.
A party of 12 wants to have dinner right away. What restaurant can accommodate last-minute requests of this size?
Our neighbor Steenbock’s is an excellent choice for larger parties.
What’s a unique event that has taken place at your property?
HotelRED once held a graduation party with palm readers, tarot cards and fortune tellers. It was a great way to see to the graduates’ future.
