The Abbey Resort, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, Wis., continues to open its doors as a Midwest leader for offsite destination meetings. This meeting had a philanthropic twist – with the participating group, a top-ranked Wisconsin public company, donating bicycles to the United Way Walworth County.
The Abbey teamed up with the United Way Walworth County to create a team building activity for the Fortune 500 Company that wishes to remain anonymous. It’s a win-win for all parties – the company gained the benefits of team building while United Way received 32 bikes for needy children from Turtle Creek Elementary School in Delavan, Wis.
The event was called “Make-A-Difference: Bike Building Breakthrough.” Each team competed in a series of team building challenges, the assembly of a boy’s and a girl’s bike plus a unique test run race. The event culminated in the surprise arrival of the United Way children and the presentation of a shiny new bike from each team to their children recipients.
“We were thrilled to receive the new bikes created by the company and we could see the excitement on the children’s faces,” said Joe Peyer, executive director at United Way Walworth County. “It was a special day and one I’m certain the kids and their parents will remember for years to come.”
The event is just one of many team building events The Abbey Resort offers.
“We were honored to host an event that benefited both the company and a worthy charity,” added Sue Thune, director of activities at The Abbey Resort. “The activities provided substantive team building for the company’s employees as well as giving needy children great gifts and memories.”
The resort offers flexible meeting spaces that can provide service for groups of two to one thousand. The Abbey Resort’s meeting center features 40,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor meeting space; the resort has 334 luxury guest rooms including 13 suites. Along with the many features, The Abbey also has numerous team-building activities to help companies with their events.
