Miami, Florida’s Doral Golf Resort & Spa has been accepted as the newest member of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI). The 650-acre resort, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is undergoing an extensive $200 million renovation that will dramatically transform and restore the iconic resort. The property will remain fully operational throughout the renovation, which is expected to conclude in 2014. ALHI, with its established Global Sales Organization (GSO) sales force throughout North America, now provides authorized and dedicated GSO services and sales support to corporations, associations, independent planners, business executives, and incentive specialists interested in conducting a meeting or program at the resort.
One of the world’s most well-known golf resorts, Doral Golf Resort & Spa features 693 guest rooms across 10 lodges; more than 90,000 square feet of meeting and event space (which includes the 24,000-square-foot Legends Ballroom); and five world-class championship golf courses, including the TPC Blue Monster, one of the most famous golf courses in the world and home to the PGA Tour for over 50 years. Additional offerings at the resort include: an expansive 48,000-square-foot spa with 33 treatment rooms; a highly regarded golf school; a Blue Lagoon pool with multiple pools; tennis center with seven courts; fitness center; six restaurants and lounges; and extensive retail options.
The $200 million renovation of the resort intends to greatly enhance the guest experience. The renovation of the main building, lodges, conference areas, spa and Champions Pavilion will set a new tone for the resort, while the Members’ Clubhouse will be redesigned to include vastly upgraded facilities and amenities. The renovation will include a fresh, new design vision throughout the guest rooms and public spaces, and a substantial upgrade of recreational facilities and amenities. All five golf courses will be enhanced, including the renowned TPC Blue Monster, and the driving range will be lengthened and expanded to more than twice its current size, making it a world-class facility.
These latest renovation projects follow a recent $16 million renovation which included the addition of a new golf course (The Jim McLean Signature Course); a $5 million renovation of The Spa at Doral Golf Resort & Spa; and enhancements to Bossa Nova Lounge and to the Latin-American inspired steakhouse Mesazul. The resort is convenient to such Miami area attractions and offerings as Bayside Marketplace, shopping in Coconut Grove, art galleries in Coral Gables, the picturesque beaches of Key Biscayne, and the shopping and restaurants on South Beach. The resort is located just seven miles from Miami International Airport.
As the newest member in ALHI’s worldwide portfolio, Doral Golf Resort & Spa also becomes the newest offering in the “ALHI Big Box Solutions Collection,” an ALHI specialty segment which consists of ALHI’s 25 member hotels and resorts that each offer more than 500 rooms, feature over 50,000 square feet of meeting space, and have at least one 20,000-square-foot ballroom.
