For planners searching for the intersection of adventure and luxury, Puerto Rico and the warm waters of the Caribbean may have the answer.
The opening of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (www.ritzcarlton.com) in 2012 solidified Puerto Rico’s arrival as a luxury meeting destination. The reserve sits along three miles of coastline with 100 beachfront guest rooms and 14 suites nestled onto 1,400 acres.
Ritz-Carlton restored the property’s original Spanish hacienda, which is now a 6,000-square-foot, four-bedroom villa. Guests and incentive groups will enjoy panoramic ocean views, a five-acre botanical spa with treehouse treatment rooms and other eco-excursions.
Offering 15,000 square feet of meeting space, the Coronado Vanderbilt (www.condadovanderbilt.com) recently underwent a $270 million renovation, adding new banquet halls and updating and reopening all 450 guest rooms.
Groups can go rum tasting at the Bacardi Factory in San Juan and hold events at the Puerto Rico Convention Center Pedro Rossello, with 580,000 square feet of event space accomodating groups of up to 10,000.
