The Saint Louis Art Museum is undergoing a $162 million expansion that will increase its public space by 30 percent with the addition of the 200,000-square-foot East Building.
Scheduled to open in June with a two-day festival, the renovation will also add new galleries and classrooms. The second story of the new building will include a 100-seat restaurant that overlooks Forest Park and 300 underground parking spaces will be added.
The museum plans to seek LEED certification upon completion.
Private event spaces, available beginning in June, include the 465-seat auditorium and the 3,600-square-foot East Building Hall, accommodating 200 people for a reception.
