Culinary Treats of Charlotte

Amelie’s French Bakery has a loyal following ranging from locals to movie stars. Among its specialties are the opera torte, twice baked chocolate and almond croissant and salted caramel brownie, which was dubbed “Stick a Fork in Me, I’m Done” by Food Network chef Ree Drummond. Other Amelie’s goodies made a guest starring appearance in the train car scene of The Hunger Games, which was filmed in and around Charlotte. The bakery even became a hangout for one of the movie’s stars, Woody Harrelson, who was often seen playing chess with locals.

A Charlotte institution since 1977, Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ’n’ Biscuits is a Southern staple. Seasoning salts are available for purchase so that attendees can add some spice to their own home-cooked dishes.

Mac’s Speed Shop is frequented by a range of foodies, including famous chefs Mario Batali and Rick Browne. Mac’s is consistently rated as some of the best barbecue in Charlotte, and their sauces are available for purchase.
