Funding Fallout: Federal Border Workers Facing Furlough

According to a report from CNN, thousands of federal workers tasked with securing borders will begin facing furloughs in mid-April due to the forced spending cuts caused by the sequestration.

The report indicates that sixty-thousand federal employees responsible for securing borders have been informed they will face furloughs beginning in mid-April due to the forced spending cuts.

Furthermore, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reportedly expects that the furloughs, and other budget actions, will lengthen wait times at ports of entry— including international arrivals at airports—and lessen the amount of on-duty Border Patrol officers at any given time.
