South Dakota tourism data reveals growth

The South Dakota Department of Tourism released data indicating that the total economic impact of the state’s tourism industry increased by 5 percent in 2012, adding up to almost $2 billion. The report, published by IHS Global Insight, included a return-on-investment study by Longswoods International which showed that for every dollar spent on marketing, the state receives $5 in tax revenues.
