Construction is progressing on schedule at SeaWorld Orlando’s Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin experience, scheduled to open May 24. This is the largest expansion SeaWorld Orlando has undertaken since the park opened, and Empire of the Penguin is being billed as the largest penguin colony outside Antarctica. The exhibit will include all four different penguin species (many of whom will be relocated from the current Penguin Encounter exhibit) and a family-friendly adventure ride that will simulate the motion of a penguin moving across ice. It will also be cold inside, as no walls separate visitors from the penguins.
Empire of the Penguin will be able to accommodate groups of up to 1,000.
In addition, SeaWorld Orlando offers daytime group events that include corporate picnics, team building and tours. For after-hours programming, there are numerous venue options, including the Port of Call banquet facility, with a 12,000-square-foot ballroom; Sea Harbor Pavilions for up to 1,500 people; the classic “underwater dining” experience at Sharks Underwater Grill; and Shamu Stadium, which seats up to 5,000.
