While Arizona’s large resorts are justifiably renowned for their extensive spa and wellness programs, planners will also find that some smaller properties are also adept at providing spa options that enhance the meetings agenda.
L’Auberge de Sedona takes full advantage of its secluded setting along Sedona’s Oak Creek to provide serene spa experiences, says spa director Maria DeSimone. While the spa at the 87-room resort has just four treatment rooms, it often sets up treatments for guests on their private decks, many of which overlook the creek or provide stunning views of the area’s famous red rock formations.
“We can do just about anything for groups, including private yoga sessions before they start the day or meeting breaks with guided stretches, meditation or chair massages,” DeSimone says.
Built as a retreat for a Cunard Steamship executive in 1929, Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix offers 119 casitas and guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting space surrounded by Tuscan-inspired landscaping, fountains and Mediterranean tile work. Its Alvarado Spa pays homage to the resort’s abundant citrus trees with signature treatments that include the Orange Blossom Body Buff and Citrus Grove Facial.
“The great thing about our spa is that we customize our treatments to suit each guest’s needs,” says spa director Glorianna Wood. “Upon check-in, we provide a personal invitation to come to the spa. We also work with planners about different ideas of working spa services into the meeting, including breaks.”
Built to resemble a European villa, the two-level spa offers 10 treatment rooms with views of Camelback Mountain, as well as private outdoor areas for treatments.
