The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland opened Theory in January, the museum’s new restaurant “where food meets science.” The 9,100-square-foot space has views of the Willamette River and a reception capacity of 350 people. Led by Chef Ryan Morgan, Theory serves food made from ingredients sourced from small farms within 150 miles of Portland and encourages sustainability and healthful eating, while educating visitors about food science.
Exhibits include a digital gallery showcasing food sources and explaining how the human body processes different foods, and a comparison of international diets and how they vary by culture. Theory will also host a number of community events, including weekly trivia and classes covering topics like composting and cheese making.
Located near the Oregon Convention Center, other venue options at OSMI include the Mummies of the World exhibit, which runs until September, the large Turbine Hall and an outdoor courtyard with city views.
