Meet Along the Mystic Ice Cream Trail

Wine, beer and bourbon all have trails…so why shouldn’t a family-friendly seasonal treat? In Eastern Connecticut’s Mystic Country, groups can explore the Mystic Ice Cream Trail.

Dotted across the region, stops on the trail make perfect afternoon pick-me-ups during a summer conference. Charming stores like Salem Valley Farms in Salem and Creamery Brook Bison in Brooklyn, Conn. offer boundless combinations of flavors, toppings and cones.

Most of the ice cream is locally produced, and Creamery Brook Bison even sells grass-fed meat raised on the property.

One of the larger options, the UConn Dairy Bar at the University of Connecticut is open year-round and serves more than 200,000 customers annually.

Reserve the space for a meeting or special event and taste the popular “Jonathan Supreme,” vanilla ice cream swirled with peanut butter and chocolate covered peanuts, named after the school’s husky dog mascot. The original Dairy Bar opened in 1953, growing out of the university’s dairy husbandry curriculum.
