Connecticut
The Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury commemorated the company’s 80th anniversary this year with a three-phase renovation. The multimillion-dollar project will modernize the 193-room hotel’s public spaces, 500-person ballroom and meeting spaces as well as update the restaurant later this year. The hotel offers 15,000 square feet of function space for corporate events, conferences and seminars, including a 500-person ballroom.
Delaware
The new Westin Riverfront in Wilmington is expected to open in early 2014. Ground was broken last year on the 180-room, $37 million project. The hotel is being constructed adjacent to the 87,000-square-foot Chase Center and will offer 2,000 square feet of its own function space.
Courtyard Marriott at the University of Delaware renovated its lobby last year. The 126-room property offers a 2,000-square-foot meeting space and is located next to the 40,000-square-foot Clayton Hall Conference Center on campus.
Massachusetts
Twenty miles west of Boston, the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center is completing a $20 million renovation of its 375 guest rooms and 22,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes an IACC-approved conference center. While maintaining the property’s historic castle ambience, the renovation will also unveil a new restaurant and update the hotel’s fitness center,
A hotel was approved as part of the New Balance shoe company’s $500 million, 14-acre mixed-use Brighton Landing redevelopment in Boston. Focusing on health and wellness, the complex will also house sports facilities and public recreation spaces. New Balance also sponsors Boston’s bike share program.
New York
Manhattan’s new-build Hyatt Union Square is expected to open in April with 178 guest rooms and suites with private terraces for receptions.
A boutique NYLO New York City property will open this summer on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The 298-room hotel will showcase numerous pieces of original artwork.
Quebec
Auberge Saint-Antoine unveiled new event space in Quebec City. Located near the hotel on the Samuel de Champlain Promenade along the St. Lawrence River, the Le Quai du Cap Blanc banquet lounge can accommodate 300 guests. Other meeting spaces at the 95-room property include a private restaurant and screening room.
