Lake Geneva may be a small town, but its reputation for showcasing cutting-edge design, fine art and rare finds in its boutiques is well-known. Many of the stores are housed in historic buildings, and attendees can even shop for antiques to take a piece of Lake Geneva heritage home with them.
Built between 1870 and 1910, the charming shops on the 700 block of Main Street are both historic and inviting, and the whole block is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Among them, Refined Rustic takes home furnishings to an artistic pinnacle with repurposed found objects and exquisitely designed pieces sure to make a statement.
Farther down Main Street, Delaney Street Mercantile occupies a historic home honored with several community betterment awards for its renovations and landscaping. Its proprietors delight in featuring collections of beautifully designed and crafted objects from around the world. Recently featured selections include Venetian glass pens, globes, and historical reproduction models of airplanes and sailing ships.
Nearby, Cornerstone Shop & Gallery was voted the town’s best gift shop. It features an array of art glass, handmade ceramics, purses and decor.
Two blocks away on Center Street, I Love Funky’s lives up to its name with an eclectic and oddball mix of treasures. Its antiques, vintage jewelry, funky fashions and one-of-a-kind surprises are all chosen to captivate those with an appreciation for the unconventional.
Just a mile north, Studio Winery focuses on local art, local music and local wine. Lake Geneva’s only winery, it features live music every Saturday, and its signature Musician wines range from semi-dry to sweet. Groups can enjoy a 45-minute tasting or rent out the whole location. The winery is undergoing an expansion that will allow it to host groups as large as 150 this summer.
