InternContinental Hotels appointed Peter Koehler as regional director of operations for Northern California and promoted Nelum Gunewardane to general manager of the InterContinental Mark Hopkins.
Koehler will manage several InterContinental brands in the region, including Crowne Plaza Hotels, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites and Gunewardane will oversee the InterContinental Mark Hopkins property.
Koehler brings more than 35 years of hospitality industry experience to his new position, and has previously worked with The Morgans Hotel in New York City and Philadelphia's Omni Hotel at Independence Park. He served as general manager at properties in San Francisco, Mexico, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Gunewardane has more than 20 years of industry experience and began her career with InterContinental at the Riyadh InterContinental in Saudi Arabia. She has also worked with the brand in London, New York and Boston.
