Conservancy of Southwest Florida re-opened its 21-acre Southwest Nature Center following a renovation. The Center is designed to raise awareness surrounding the protection of local water, land and wildlife. Tours of the 21-acre center last up to three hours and can include boat rides and manatee sightings.
The conservancy works to protect Florida’s Everglades, cares for injured animals and releases them back to their native habitat if possible, and has protected more than 225,000 sea turtle hatchlings over the past 27 years through its monitoring and protection program.
In addition to its conservation work, the center runs off-site programs that include narrated nature walks, chartered eco-cruises on Rookery Bay and kayak floats through the mangrove-lined lagoon.
