Kristin Artz, of the Swivel Group, Shares Her Favorite Attractions in the Keys

While animal attractions in the Keys showcase fins, feathers and fur, other locales focus on the island chain’s long and storied past. A local meeting planner reveals a few of her favorite historical venues for group events.

We do a lot of events at the Truman Little White House, located in the historic Truman Annex. Depending on the size of the group, you can be catered to inside the house, but they also have a beautiful lawn area where we’ve had up to 300. They love to work with planners.

The Key West Lighthouse can host programs on their lawn as well. We’ve put together everything from breakout sessions to full dinners with live bands there. Most planners usually include a private tour on the program.

We also work with the Hemingway Home. Many groups take private tours of the house, then enjoy the grounds. It’s a great space for sit-down catered dinners and cocktail parties, with enough room for large groups. It’s also home to many cats, descendants of Hemingway’s own cat, and they’re well taken care of there. They’ve actually built a hotel for the cats on-site.
