Filled with scenic landscapes, fantastic B&Bs, antiquing opportunities and welcoming wineries, the Texas Hill Country neighboring Austin is a retreat for locals and groups alike.
For picturesque off-site gatherings under daytime’s rolling clouds or evening’s blanket of stars, planners should look to the hills and its special event venues. Following are several great options.
Thurman’s Mansion, built from native Texas limestone, has an intimate vibe but is large enough for groups of up to 180 people, according to Angela Hobbs, the facility’s spokeswoman.
“There are gorgeous views of vineyards and the Hill Country sunsets,” she says.
If they’d like, Hobbs adds, visiting groups can play lawn games such as horseshoes, arrange for live music, gather for cocktails on the back porch while watching the sun set and enjoy a Salt Lick BBQ family-style, all-you-can-eat meal.
Camp Lucy, located nearby wineries, microbreweries, olive orchards and outdoor adventures, is available for groups of anywhere from 30 to 300 people.
“Don’t be fooled by our name. This ‘camp’ features spacious, high-end facilities for meetings and special events in a stunning Texas Hill Country setting,” says Andrea Jennings, site director for Camp Lucy.
Camp Lucy has indoor event halls that are well-suited for corporate galas and receptions, as well as for business meetings and lectures that call for sound systems and green rooms. Outdoor spaces here, including an open pavilion and great lawn, offer picturesque views.
“We know how hard planners work, so we strive to make their experience and, ultimately, their client’s, a great one,” Jennings says.
Another standout off-site option near Austin is the Hamilton Twelve Hill Country Event Facility, which is located on five acres with trees, wild persimmons and a variety of wildlife.
The venue, known for its Mediterranean-style architecture and delicious culinary offerings, is available for corporate events.
When utilizing its indoor and outdoor spaces, Hamilton Twelve can accommodate up to 200 people, and its interior grand hall and covered terrace can seat up to 125 people or host 150 for a cocktail reception.
