If you’re taking a meeting to Michigan this fall, treat your attendees and their guests to an afternoon at the cider mill. From August through October, the Michigan countryside is set aflame by colorful leaves and trees bursting with fruit. With 950 family-run farms and 20 million bushels produced each year, apples are Michigan’s most lucrative fruit crop, creating more than $700 million of economic impact annually.
Across the state, mills churn out delicious apple cider and an endless of array of mouthwatering baked goods and caramel apples.
The Dexter Cider Mill outside Detroit is the state’s oldest continually operating mill, and creates every batch of cider on an authentic oak rack press that is more than 100 years old.
Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns has a five-acre corn maze to explore in September and October.
Almar Orchards in eastern Michigan covers 500 acres and offers educational tours.
If your group doesnt have an entire afternoon to spare in the orchards, bring in some fresh apples for a snack break or send attendees home with apple-themed cookbooks by local authors.
