ORLANDO
Hilton Orlando has broken ground on a more than two-acre outdoor event site adjacent to the hotel's ballroom foyer to be known as The Promenade. By early fall, and with an investment of $2.1 million, Hilton Orlando will have a new 50,000-square-foot outdoor event venue to accommodate receptions for up to 3,000 guests.
"This new space, which we are calling The Promenade, was specifically designed around the guest's experience," said General Manager Doug Gehret as he broke ground to commence construction. "The Promenade will have four distinct spaces and lawns for large scale events, or more intimate gatherings surrounded by unique gardens, a centerpiece fountain and will be event-ready."
When the hotel opened in September 2009 less than four years ago, the site where Hilton Orlando now sits was 27 acres of dirt.
Today the 1,417-room hotel stands as the anchor to the convention center core on International Drive and has just won its third award as one of the top Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties in the world.
