Hyatt Regency Atlanta opened a new rooftop bee garden under the blue dome of its International Tower. The bees are part of a diverse rooftop garden, growing herbs, tomatoes, peppers, beans, vegetables and flowers, all planted in soil enriched with compost from the hotel’s food waste program.
Two hives are home to thousands of bees that will eventually produce the honey used in the Hyatt’s two dining outlets. He garden was created through a partnership with the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association.
The 1,260-room hotel offers more than 180,000 square feet of meeting, ballroom and exhibition space.
